Last year I met Elen at one of the courses I run, teaching parents how to use their DSLR cameras, and we soon became friends. She mentioned that she'd like to book a Session with me when her youngest turned one to mark the occasion.
Well a few weeks ago, Celt turned One and I visited their beautiful home to photograph them as a family. We decided to go for their home as the location as they live on a farm with lots of outdoor space and having visited before, I knew that if the weather was bad, there would be plenty of light indoors to capture the session in their home. As it turned out, the weather was almost perfect, aside from the wind! But Celt is still small and not running around yet, and the ground outside was too wet, so we decided to do both anyway, and I'm so pleased we did. Elen had dressed the children in the most gorgeous outfits and they were just perfect for an indoor session!
Our sessions are relaxed so that everyone has fun and feels comfortable and at ease with the camera. I aim to capture a mixture of natural images and some posed images for you because I know that whilst you may have booked the session to have nice portraits of your family to frame and gift to grandparents, it's also really lovely to record the silliness that goes on, the moments that really make you smile from the inside and I want to give you those memories to cherish forever...
Once the children started to get a little restless, we decided to head outside. A quick outfit change and they were off! I already had an idea of the images I wanted to capture for them but I also like to go with the flow so that the children don't feel restricted. The last thing I want is for you to feel as though the children aren't co-operating and are being naughty, because I promise you, I won't be thinking that! I know that children want to run around, act silly and not pose, they're children and that's not always fun for them.
As soon as we were outside they went straight for the swings and were having such a lovely time so I snapped a few of them giggling at each other as they whizzed past. Then it was off up and along the monkey bars and up to the top of the slide.
We played peekaboo around the tree in the garden and got some beautiful posed shots. Even the cat joined us! It was such a fun session with a truly lovely family.
Thank you so much for trusting me to capture these memories for you, Elen and Steffan. I hope that these images will be a wonderful reminder of how everyone was when Celt turned One...
